A Closer Look pulls back the curtain on the intentional details, big and small, that give each project its character, coherence, and soul.

A wooden table with various pottery vases and containers holding plants and candles. A large beige vase contains a leafy green plant with red and yellow flowers. Other smaller vases hold green leafy branches. There is a glass with a dark beverage and a small decorative plate on the table. In the background, part of a sofa with beige and gray cushions is visible.

At the heart of this expansive seven-bedroom estate was a singular ambition: to transform the grand structure into a true family sanctuary, a home defined by effortless warmth and meaningful connection.

Our design brief was rooted in ritual. For a passionate host with a cherished library of cookbooks, every space was engineered to serve as a hub for shared meals and holiday gatherings. The result is a home that transcends its impressive amenities, the tennis court, pool house, and sprawling grounds, to become a deeply resonant space, perfectly calibrated for both intimate family moments and the joyous demands of a thriving household.

Living room with a dark gray sofa decorated with two patterned throw pillows, next to a side table with books and a decorative cup. There is a large indoor plant and a window showing a cityscape in the background.

The design challenge here was one of architectural precision: seamlessly merging two Upper East Side apartments into a singular, high-functioning residence.

Our solution was to custom-engineer distinct zones that flow naturally with the family’s busy life. The result is a luminous, high-performance sanctuary. A spectacular East River panorama provides a constantly changing backdrop, enhancing the home’s jewel-box quality throughout the day.

A cozy kitchen corner with a window open to outside, decorated with a flowering plant in a window box, a marble countertop with bottles and a basket, and a white cabinet with brass handles.

The design challenge at this historic Brooklyn brownstone was to balance its grand Gilded Age architecture with the needs of a modern family. Occupying the top two floors, the home blends the formal, hand-carved paneling of the former billiards living room with the panoramic, contemporary feel of a private rooftop apartment and outdoor kitchen.

Thoughtfully designed spaces, including a tower room, a conversation corner with stunning city view, full bar, and an airy rooftop retreat, support both everyday family life and effortless entertaining.
